Fragmented City | Tung Monkey x Mess. | PerformX - organized by Vietnam Media Lab x RMIT Vietnam

My performance (visual) with Mess. (audio) at the PerformX program, organized by Vietnam Media Lab and RMIT Vietnam. Fragmented City is an audio visual project that I started in 2022. The project uses music and computer graphics as a healing therapy, preserving my childhood memories that are increasingly "fragmented" in the context of the fluctuations of an adult's life.

With the performance at PerformX, I took the audience at Nina Next Space to further emotional realms. Led by Mess.'s music, the journey started from my Grandmother's altar room, which for me is a stronghold of family foundation (as well as morality), the place I always look to to shape my life. The images reflected on the surface of the room are like a narrative of my experiences from the outside, and I want to tell them to my grandmother. The next images come from the streets I have passed through in Hanoi, old friends, and a friend who passed away last year (I used these images from the Electricity Project), all of which are major milestones in the journey of emotional maturity. All of them reflect on the image of a pagoda that envelops everything, as a healing, an end point for my journey, a new symbol that I will aim for after the values that my family has taught me.
