HIDE AND SEEK _ Sculpture Installation
Hidden in the neighborhood of The Global City is a unique sculpture complex by visual artist Tung Monkey called “Hide and Seek”. These works, with the shapes of innocent, carefree Asian children, seem to quietly invite viewers into a colorful world of childhood.
The flat noses, round eyes and long ears of the statues are like mischievous strokes, sketching the image of children exploring the world around them. The statues’ heads with open round holes symbolize an open mind, always ready to welcome new things. The big, innocent eyes express the boundless curiosity and desire to learn of children.
Interestingly, the statues do not stand still. They hide in the corners of walls, swing on railings, and even climb onto the roof. It’s as if they are playing a giant game of hide and seek, inviting viewers to join in the fun. By interacting with the surrounding space, the works have turned the entire neighborhood into a giant playground, where people can freely explore and experience. “Hide and Seek” is not only a group of artworks, but also an invitation for us to return to our childhood, to recall the innocent, pure moments. That is when we are free to explore the world, without any limits.
