The Fragmented City project is an attempt to recreate and preserve pieces of memories on digital space by the visual artist Tung "Monkey". Using LIDAR technology to scan layers of images to reconstruct his childhood home in 3D format, Tung puts this data into his VJing performance, for it is a kind of immortalizing all the memories he holds dear on the digital perspective.
3D scans of my parents’ family altar in Hanoi. My grandmother stands in front of my grandfather’s altar as usual. I used an iPad to scan the room.
images later used in my VJing performance at The Visual Abstract City. Performance artist Nguyen Duy Thanh imagines himself as a character lost in the ambiguous realm of memory, while Mess.vnd uses her contemporary indigenous music to guide the dance and visual.
